OUR PRESENCE

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Diversity is our strength, an ability to translate the potential into reality, in each individual project. We consider every project to be a benefactor to a sustainable environment, local economy and community.

AEB draws on the strengths of a unique architectural methodology, established by Ibrahim M. Jaidah himself. Its focus is on the present development of the country, and, where appropriate, the firm preserves and articulates traditional architecture while ensuring that each design offers the client a functional space tailored to their needs and design brief. The firm’s approach is grounded in the search for contextually appropriate solutions. Special emphasis is given to climate and scale – and, as a result, AEB has been chosen numerous times to create landmark projects.

RESEARCH

A main contributor to the success of our firm in Vernacular, Heritage, and Cultural advisory projects is our great dedication to Research and Development.

“Qatari Style” investigates the interior design trends that celebrate the personal and local dispositions reflected in the spaces. Authored by Ibrahim M. Jaidah and published by Hirmer Verlag in 2019, the book features selected interiors which are pioneering examples of how new and foreign influences are absorbed harmoniously into local design and culture whilst retaining the traditional charm. Qatar, a small peninsula in the Arabian Gulf – was a crossroad to many trading and migration routes which resulted in the development of the distinctive local style. Rich in colour, opulent in detail, rarely minimal, Qatari style is noteworthy for its depiction and fusion of various influences.

AEB 1966-2016 Fifty years of architectural design in Qatar, published by SKIRA Milano, honors a half a century of firm’s direct involvement in building of the modern State of Qatar.

The book has been carefully curated with introductory essays by prof. Ashraf M. Salama and Luca Molinari which construe the milieu in which firm has been practicing. It features 40 projects; architectural opus that best describes firm’s design philosophy and show major milestones it has achieved in the past fifty years. Selected projects vary in their typology and scale, and better explain how simple elements of the past translate into contemporary architectural vocabulary.

“99 Domes,” commissioned by QM and authored by Ibrahim M. Jaidah, was the natural outcome of a prestigious project of national significance and sacred character designed and led by AEB: Masjid of Imam Sheikh Mohammad ibn Abdul Wahhab.

The book documents the stylistic historical development of religious architecture in Qatar, and highlights the design features and intricacies of this outstanding edifice. It is intended to take readers onto a rich visual tour of the mosque by highlighting its unique elements, which eventually reveal an ambitious state vision that aspires to translate cultural forms via an inimitable contemporary language of architecture.

Published in 2009, “The History of Qatari Architecture” authored by AEB’s CEO Ibrahim M. Jaidah, is a wealth of research compiled over a span of eleven years, and organized to give a detailed insight into the fascinating history and development of the geographical, historical and functional aspects of architecture in Qatar.
